How We Got Started
Our journey began in 2019 when our founder Rachel adopted a rescue dog, Errol.
When traditional training couldn’t ease Errol's anxiety and sensitivity to noise, Rachel improvised by wrapping a scarf around his head.
This inspired her to create something more effective—a product designed to muffle overwhelming sounds while keeping dogs safe. Sitting down at her sewing machine, Rachel got to work and developed The Hush Muff, a unique head covering for dogs that muffles loud and sudden noises.
And it doesn't stop there. Rachel works with a sound engineer to test materials for optimal noise reduction, comfort and lifespan to make The Hush Muff the best it can be.
Today, the Hush Muff is a lifeline for over 2,500 dogs across 25+ countries. And every returned product? Washed, repaired, and donated to another anxious pup in need.

Our Mission & Values
Rachel has been in you shoes - and can still be at times. She knows exactly what it's like to work with an anxious and reactive rescue pup.
Soothe and Settle's mission is to reduce anxiousness in dogs around the world through natural and cost-effective solutions, which will also help owners to live a calmer life.
Rachel’s mission goes beyond selling a solution. She’s on a quest to educate owners, normalise support, and build a community that help anxious dogs and their owners.
What's Next
To continue our goal to help dogs around the world live healthier, happier, and less anxious lives, we're working to extend our product range and offer more education for dog owners worldwide.
In 2024, we released our own range of anti-slip martingale collars to help your dog feel secure without the harshness of traditional collars — perfect for anxious and reactive dogs who are prone to slipping out during stressful moments.
We also partnered with Dorwest Herbs to bring you a range of natural supplements for your pets.
Rachel will also continue to do whatever she can to educate owners on how to better understand their dogs, including through their body language, to help them live calmer, happier lives.

Hands down the most stress free firework week we have ever had. We spent 3 weeks getting him accustomed to wearing it and then he wore it as soon as it got dark from 1 Nov onwards. This year we had a week of official events right up to last might with one house setting them off at 10pm. 😡
He normally shakes uncontrollably and spends hours sitting on my head but all week I lay on the floor, and he came to lie on me, I held him tight and he fell asleep.

Have made a difference paired with the snood to a point it is managable but the poor boy is so reactive to the fireworks that he gets himself worked up, will definitely buy some more as it has helped.
It makes a slight difference to my dog, definitely worth giving it a go, muffles some of it out to help, i have used with calming drops and although it has made it managable, he is such a reactive dog to fireworks.

These are great! My two collies are terrified of fireworks & the Hush Muffs mute out the noise which calms them down & helps them to relax.
We’ve tried lots of other methods such as white noise & playing the TV loud but the Hush Muffs do the trick!

I can’t fault the product at all , for normal noises car doors etc however my staffy is super anxious with fireworks , so if they are close by it doesn’t help.
I ordered a medium hush muff for my cocker spaniel, which was too small . Contacted them by email and was given an exchange with no hassle and very quick
Very good communication with you- incredibly helpful. Gradually getting our pooch used to it with tips from the video I discovered. She pushes her head right in now for the treat but it is slow careful progress. Just hope we are ready for the firework season!
Fireworks were going off randomly the other night. My dog was trembling with fear and very unsettled. Popped the hush muff on her and within minutes she was lay down fast asleep!! 4 years we have tried everything to settle her, this really works!!!
