How We Got Started
Our journey began in 2019 when our founder Rachel adopted a rescue dog, Errol.
When traditional training couldn’t ease Errol's anxiety and sensitivity to noise, Rachel improvised by wrapping a scarf around his head.
This inspired her to create something more effective—a product designed to muffle overwhelming sounds while keeping dogs safe. Sitting down at her sewing machine, Rachel got to work and developed The Hush Muff, a unique head covering for dogs that muffles loud and sudden noises.
And it doesn't stop there. Rachel works with a sound engineer to test materials for optimal noise reduction, comfort and lifespan to make The Hush Muff the best it can be.
Today, the Hush Muff is a lifeline for over 5000 dogs across 40+ countries. And every returned product? Washed, repaired, and donated to another anxious pup in need.

Our Mission & Values
Rachel has been in you shoes - and can still be at times. She knows exactly what it's like to work with an anxious and reactive rescue pup.
Soothe and Settle's mission is to reduce anxiousness in dogs around the world through natural and cost-effective solutions, which will also help owners to live a calmer life.
Rachel’s mission goes beyond selling a solution. She’s on a quest to educate owners, normalise support, and build a community that help anxious dogs and their owners.
What's Next
To continue our goal to help dogs around the world live healthier, happier, and less anxious lives, we're working to extend our product range and offer more education for dog owners worldwide.
In 2024, we released our own range of anti-slip martingale collars to help your dog feel secure without the harshness of traditional collars — perfect for anxious and reactive dogs who are prone to slipping out during stressful moments.
We also partnered with Dorwest Herbs to bring you a range of natural supplements for your pets.
Rachel will also continue to do whatever she can to educate owners on how to better understand their dogs, including through their body language, to help them live calmer, happier lives.

The hush muff is so good at muffling sound especially for our dog who doesn’t like fireworks. Not only does it muffle the sound but it completely calms him and he falls asleep with it on. We have also used it on car journeys and in hotels. I can’t recommend these enough!
Our little Westie looks so cute in this hush muff and it does what it says too, cutting out loud noises (we take her to local festivals when we can). Great customer service too and advice on how to fit etc. Quick response and very helpful. Would recommend.

This product was amazing for our dog. She was more relaxed during the new year fireworks.
Onze Boris was al vrij snel aan de Hush Muff gewend, waardoor het weinig problemen opleverde hem er in huis mee te laten 'leven'. Omdat het vuurwerk steeds meer begint los te barsten heeft hij vanavond er een aantal uren mee gelegen en ik merk echt verschil in zijn reacties en in zijn houding. Kortom: een succesvolle aanschaf waar ik blij mee ben.

This really does work. Our whippet had struggled with car sickness. The Hush Muff calms her and she even slept. Thank you so much!
Really good!! It says that the dog has to get used to it, but that wasn't the case with our Great Dane. He got used to it right away and fell asleep peacefully.
Now, when there's a lot of noise, he sometimes comes to get it himself.
To downsides::
1) It could be a little tighter or have something to keep it in place.
2) The XXL is not available in the Netherlands and is therefore very expensive (more than double the price). But for something that works, it's more than worth it.
This really helped my dog throughout the firework season, I can’t recommend it enough !! We have tried everything in the the past including medication, but this was amazing she was so calm for the first time ever! Highly recommend!!
